Mom and dad had fun trying to keep track of all 6 of them, but they all returned safely to their parents. Allie thinks we should have another pool party next year!

A New Doll for a Little Girl

Allie's been saving for an American Girl doll for quite some time now. We spent Saturday at the Mall of America, so Jeremy and I decided to let her get her doll. She picked one that looks similar to her. She has the same color of hair, blue eyes and currently does not have bangs. (she plans on growing hers out at some point) Allie was so excited about her new doll. She had it sleep next to her last night and she has been playing with her all day. She sits next to her while she eats. Allie just informed me that she has named her doll Katie because she has a cousin named Katie (sorry Anna).

Creamy Wild Rice and Turkey Casserole

6 Cups cooked Wild Rice ( I use 1/2 a bag, then you can use it twice and it is more saucy)
1 (about 10-oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (8-oz.) sour cream
1 stick butter (I use real butter, but only 1/2 stick)
3 ribs celery, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 cups cooked turkey, diced (I use chicken breasts, diced)

Prepare the wild rice (it takes about an hour or more to cook). Meanwhile, combine the soup with the sour cream, stirring to blend well. Melt the butter in a skillet and saute the celery, onion, and mushrooms just until vegetables are slightly limp. Stir in the salt and pepper, sour cream-soup mixture, wild rice and turkey or chicken. Spoon into a lightly greased, shallow 3 qt. casserole. Bake, covered at 350 degrees about 45 minutes, then uncover and bake another 15 minutes, to lightly brown top of casserole. (Everything is already cooked when you put it in the oven so I only cook it an additional 1/2 hour). I got this recipe from one of my co-workers.

I talked to Pat earlier and I was cooking my wild rice and she was talking about how much Woody likes wild rice, so I thought I would post this recipe. My family likes this a lot and it seems like something everybody else would enjoy also. And yes I even eat the mushrooms. I think that it was meant to be made after Thanksgiving with leftover turkey, but chicken works really well. Mine is in the oven and I'm very excited to eat it. We haven't had it for a while. Allie's 1st day of Kindergarten

Her teacher's name is Mrs. Heil. She seems to enjoy school so far. She has been disappointed because they haven't gotten to play on the big playground yet and there is a climber that she wants to try out. Today they had a puppet show and Allie got to be one of the puppets, so she was very excited when she got home so she could tell us all about it. She also likes going to the library and the rain garden, which I think must be a greenhouse with flowers.

Allie requested to go to House of Bounce for her 5th birthday, which was on August 18th. House of Bounce is basically a really large open building filled with inflatable slides, castles, and obstacle courses. She also requested to invite her whole daycare class. We invited 23 kids and had 13 show up for the party on August 29th. Everybody had a great time. It was a good place to let the kids burn off some energy. We had a party assistant that set up and decorated for the party and also cleaned everything up. It was wonderful!!

There is a little strap underneath so it can be a pillow or an animal and you can tuck your pj's in the strap for slumber parties.

Every chance Allie got, she gave uncle Jordan a thumbs up to go faster. She loved riding on super mable. She never fell off. If she had, it might be a different story.

Swimming Lessons

Allie took swimming lessons at the YMCA again this summer and she loved them. Last year she liked them, but wasn't as comfortable. This year it was fun to watch her hop right in and show the other kids how to do it. All of these pictures were taken on the last day. The rest of the days we had to sit in a room with windows and watch, so we wouldn't distract the kids. The last day they took their tests and got to play.

Allie likes the idea of going through the sprinkle, but doesn't really like to go through it continuously. She stands on the edge for a little bit and then she gets out, which of course then she is cold. She does have fun though, so I guess that is what counts.

Kenlie was just learning to crawl, so we had a great time playing on the floor with her. She tries to crawl towards her toys. I'm sure she will be crawling(if not walking) all over by the time we go back. She is a very strong little girl.

Surprise Birthday Party

Allie and I went to a pottery place here in town to paint a flower pot for my aunt Sherry's 40th Birthday. We had lots of fun and hope to go back soon. After we painted the pot, the people that work there glaze it and fire it. We were able to pick it 5 days later and it looked great. The colors are much brighter after it has been fired.

Allie and I traveled by train to ND over Memorial Day weekend. We were very busy while there. We had a surprise 40th birthday party for my aunt and my niece's baptism. We had a great time. Allie really liked riding on the train. She didn't sleep too much on the way to ND, but on the way back she was wiped out and slept the whole trip. I on the other hand didn't get much sleep either way, but it was better than spending 18 hours driving over one weekend.

My mom and dad came to visit the weekend after Easter. Allie played lots of games with them. She did a great job of tiring Grandpa out by having him go on walks with her and Etnie. We also enjoyed many DQ treats while they were here.

This spring we signed Allie up for a community education class. It was a 4 week gymnastics class. She loved it and wanted to keep doing it, but we thought we would try a couple other classes before deciding on one thing. She would also like to try dance, hopefully this fall. We have swimming lessons coming up at the end of June also. She loved jumping in the foam pit and doing flips over the bar, once she got the hang of it.

Allie helped me make pizza one evening for dinner. We had to make two because she didn't want the same kind as mommy and daddy. Allie's cheese pizza is pictured above. A day with the Great Grandparents

On Thursday we headed to Bottineau to see as many people as possible in one day. First we headed to the Pizza Inn for lunch with Grandma Lori, Grandpa John, Auntie Pat and Cousin Barb. Then we headed to Ruth and Norvin's house. Allie and Grandma Ruth had a great time baking play-dough cookies and singing Jesus Loves Me.

Then we headed to my Grandma Florence's house(my dad's mom). Allie had a great time finding stuffed animals and crafts that my grandma had made.

Then we headed to Grandma Ella's house in Landa(my mom's mom). Grandma Lori and Grandpa John met us in Landa to visit with Grandma. It was good to get to see Grandma Ella while we were home. Allie really enjoyed the puffed corn that grandma had for her to snack on.

Then we headed back to Minot, with a quick stop at the Pita Pit when we got there. I can't go to Minot without stopping. It's just too good!

Trip to ND

Allie and I left for Fergus Falls last Tuesday, so that we would miss the big storm. (Jeremy wasn't able to get time off to go with). We stopped by Albertville for some quick shopping and got to Fergus in time to enjoy some Chicken Noodle Soup and Freshly baked bread. It was so yummy!! On Wednesday we got up and headed to Minot to see my beautiful niece and Allie's little cousin and everybody else of course. Here are some pictures of Kenlie James.

Allie and I spent one evening baking some cutout cookies and some thumbprint cookies. Allie loved putting sprinkles and M&M's on the cookies. Of course there aren't many cookies left because we took some to ND when we went, so this weekend we will be baking more!

Quick Update

We have been very busy lately. Last weekend my co-worker and her daughter came over to meet Allie. Her daughter will be babysitting Allie when we go to my Christmas party. Allie has never had an actual babysitter, so I wanted to see how comfortable she would be with somebody new. It went very well, so it will be nice to have somebody we can call if Jeremy and I want to do something. I also started Christmas shopping (STRESS). I should have done it in July. The stores are so busy and it is awful. I'm very excited to get the tree up and bake cookies.

Jeremy and I just got new computers, so we thought Allie could use our old laptop to play games on the internet. It's pretty funny watching her focus on getting her finger to move the arrow the correct place. She is picking it up very quickly. She loves listening to music and painting on some kids websites. Here she is focused on her game.

One of my favorite things to do is have a campfire and of course Allie's favorite thing is jumping on the trampoline, so on this night we combined both. I didn't manage to get any pictures of Jeremy or the fire, but Allie loves jumping on the trampoline, so I did capture that.

Whenever we give Etnie chewies, she looks all over for a good hiding place. She usually cannot find one, so she paces and whines. It's pretty funny. She gets so worked up because she can't find a place to hind her chewy. She has been caught trying to dig a hole in the couch to hide it. Thank goodness I caught her right away.

We all spent the afternoon at Lake Hendricks in Iowa. It was a hot and beautiful day to spend at the beach. There were no weeds and the sand was very nice. We all had a wonderful time. Hopefully we will get there a few times next year (it's a couple hours away from Rochester).

The Monday after Allie's Birthday we spent the day at Como Zoo and Town. We had a great time. Allie loved all of the animals and the rides. They had some really neat lilie pads from all over the world, but Allie was quite excited to get to the rides so there was no time for pictures.

Uncle Jay Grilling like a mad man. I still have burgers frozen away, but they were very tasty. Thank You! Jay, Nicole and my mom came out to help get ready for the party. They helped with some yard work, helped put the trampoline together and helped me run errands all over town.

Allie really liked her cake and we both enjoyed the leftovers. Jeremy was even impressed by how good the cake was.

She called Alex a loser because she made more baskets than he did. We didn't even know she was paying attention since they really weren't competing. I guess she is a lot like her dad, She Hates to Lose. She doesn't even like to play board games against him anymore because she wants to win and he wins most of the time.

Here's Allie's loot. She found around 25 clams. One of the shells we found was huge, but we couldn't find the other half. Allie was very proud of all the "seashells" she found.

Allie practicing swimming with mommy. She took swimming lessons a couple of weeks before this, so she was practicing her kicking, scooping, and floating. She is excited to take lessons again.

I went to Morgan's musical with Sheri and Paul (which I did not get any pictures because I left my camera for Heather to take pictures of Allie swimming). I knew she wouldn't be brave enough to swim in the middle of the lake with mommy, so Heather and Zak took her out.

Here she is in the noodle chair in the middle of Right Lake. When she found this out, she was very disappointed because she thought she was swimming in Hoot Lake.
We also made it to the fair while we were in Fergus. Allie loves rides, she was able to go on many by herself without waiting. Her favorite ride was the Tilt-O-Whirl. We had a great time with Heather, Zak, and Emily. We enjoyed lots of fair food, rides and games.

Jeremy has been playing softball for a couple of years. He plays on a team with a guy that he went to college with in Minot. Kind of crazy that they ran into each other, but Jeremy has had a lot of fun playing softball.

Summer Fun

So I got Allie a Slip N Slide quite a while ago on sale and it's been in her closet ever since. Well she noticed that it was up there, so we decided to take it out. It was very cute. There is a little Dora pool at the end. I thought that it would be fun, but it didn't end up that way. Allie didn't quite get the concept. She thought that I should do it first and of course daddy was at work so I couldn't make him. I did not do it, since it was set up in our front yard and I didn't think it was appropriate for our neighbors to see that. Anyway, Allie got angry and we didn't end up taking it out the rest of the summer. Maybe next year.

We got a different pool this year, so that it could be deflated when not in use. Allie loves her pool. She kept dumping water into the top of the trees so that it would rain on her. Daddy, Allie and I hung out most of the afternoon by her little pool. She had a great time and got lots of use out of this one.

The Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. We left Rochester at 12:45 am on Thursday night and drove all the way to Minot. We arrived in Minot at 10:30 am. We didn't get much sleep, including Allie. We went out for dinner with Marisa and her baby Paul. He is about 7 months old. Friday we went to Bottineau to see Ruth and Norvin and Tommy Turtle. We had rehearsal Friday night. Saturday started at 9:00 with makeup and hair and then pictures. Then we headed to the Zoo for the wedding. It was very hot, like 86 degrees. I believe all 3 of us got sunburned. It was one of the nicest days they had had in ND. Sunday we slept in and headed to the gift opening. We finished packing and began our trip back. We stopped in Valley City to see Jordan and then drove to Fergus to stay. Jeremy and I got back to Rochester around 7:00 on Monday. It was a lot of fun, but boy was I exhausted when the alarm went off this morning. And just think, I have to pack and fly to Miami on Sunday for a week. It will be fun, but I'm sure I will be tired when I get back.

Gift Opening

Gift opening was Sunday afternoon. Jay made some chili, which I heard was very good. Jeremy and I had already eaten food from the Pita Pit because it was the only time we could fit it in. Since we don't have one in Rochester, we make it a point to stop at least once while we are in Minot. Allie was a very good helper. She helped open the gifts as well as clean up all of the wrapping paper.

Hanging Out with Uncle Jordan

On our way home on Sunday, we stopped to visit Jordan for a little bit. Allie really wanted to drive his remote control truck, so Jordan let her take it for a cruise down the sidewalk and in the street. She loved it. She also got to play basketball with Jordan, with a hoop that was just her size.

We will also be very busy in the near future. Jay is getting married in a week, I am going to Miami for work and Allie is staying with Grandma Sheri for 2 weeks. Uff-da I hope it goes ok. I'm sure going to miss her.

While Jen was here to visit from Oklahoma we went to the park, grilled at our house, went to Underwater Adventure and on rides, went to Albertville, roasted smores and managed to be in the cities 3 times in one long weekend. We had a great time. Wish Jen could visit more often or maybe move back would even be better.

We also decided to take Allie and Alex on a few rides while we were at the mall. Allie was too short to go on most of the rides herself, so I got to go along. We had a great time and enjoyed some ice cream afterwards. Allie fell asleep in the car on the way home. She just couldn't make it all day without a nap.

Underwater Adventure

On Mother's Day some of my friends and I drove to the Mall of America and went to the Underwater Adventure. We had a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed seeing all of the different sea animals.

Etnie did manage to get a ride in the Jeep, but it didn't last long. She wouldn't stay in long enough for me to get a picture. Etnie loves Allie and wants to protect her, but Allie doesn't always appreciate it. After this Allie and I were drawing on the sidewalk with chalk and Etnie kept laying on Allie's legs so she couldn't move. It was very cute, but Allie didn't think so. This was also at the same time that Jeremy was trying to fix the battery in my car, but we ended up having to tow it to the dealership to get it fixed:(

The Easter Bunny left a note with clues for Allie to find her Easter basket.

I'm not real sure what she was doing here, but she looked cute so I posted it.

She follows all the Easter Bunnie's clues and ended up on our front step to find her Easter Basket.

She worked on that bunny for a few days. She really likes her chocolate!!

A Beautiful Fun Filled Saturday

Allie's new friend Kylie (her mommy works with me). They hit it off right away.

Allie and I had busy day today. We started by going to the free kids movie at the theatre with some of my friends and their kids. We thought it was going to be Robots, but when the movie started we found out it was Madagascar. After the movie we headed to a pizza place for lunch. The kids had a great time. After that Allie, Alex, Julie and I headed to the History Center for horse drawn sleigh rides. The Special Olympics were having a fund raiser, which included sleigh rides, hot cocoa, cookies, a fire and a small skating rink. This was Allie's favorite part of the day. She wanted to ride in the sleighs all day. They were old sleighs that the horses pulled. All of the horses seemed very nice and the rides were quite smooth. After our first ride we enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies by the fire. Then we went on another ride. Allie was upset that her "Sassy" wasn't there.

We rode on this sleigh the second time.

StoryTime

This is what I found one evening when I came upstairs. Allie was sitting in Etnie's dog bed, reading Etnie a story. She was up there for a long time entertaining the dog. Etnie is quite wild still, so she isn't out all of the time. Hopefully she will calm done a little now that we can take her outside to run. Allie loves Etnie very much. She has to give her hugs and kisses all the time.

Etnie had lots of fun chasing after Allie and pulling her to the ground. She had lots of fun playing outside.

Etnie looking innocent, but she really isn't. She found the couple of spots in the fence where the gaps are big enough for her to fit through. We will have to get those taken care of as soon as it is nice enough. Etnie also ran into the fence because she thought she could just run to the front yard from the back. It was quite entertaining.

A Fun Day of Skating

Allie with Alex and Gus at Cold Stone eating cotton candy ice cream ( a couple of my co-workers' kids). We went to Cold Stone after an hour of ice skating at the Rec Center.

Allie and I ice skating. She got pretty heavy and I ended up with a backache, but we had lots of fun. All of the things to push around for the little kids that didn't know how to skate were taken. It was very busy.

Here Allie is excited to get out there and try ice skating until we got to the edge, then everything changed. She didn't really want to, but Julie (a friend from work who babysits Allie once in awhile) took her out and she was fine. Once she was on the ice then it was ok for her to skate with me.

Allie got some ice skates for Christmas so we a wanted to try them out before they wouldn't fit her any longer. When we were done skating I told her that Daddy could come with us next time and she told me that, "I could stay at home and her and daddy could go skating because I didn't know how to skate." It was pretty funny. She also asked why the other kids already knew how to skate.

The kids had a great time in the pool. I was very proud of Allie. We have had problems getting her in large amounts of water. She loves to play in the bathtub, but not in lakes. She has been a little scared in the past, so I was very happy that she went in the pool with her auntie and cousins. She had lots of fun.

Christmas Day

These pictures are in the wrong order, but that's ok. Sheri, Paul, Jordan and Morgan came to visit us on Christmas day. We had a nice dinner, opened presents and hung out for the night. The next day Allie, grandma, grandpa and auntie headed to Nelson to see Grandma Pat. (We also went to Nelson on Christmas Eve, but I forgot my camera. We had a nice time with the Davis side of the family).

Here Allie is opening some of her presents. These are twin dolls that talk to each other. They say nursery rhymes and a bunch of other things. I thought they were pretty cute, but I have heard that they remind some people of the "Chucky" dolls.

Outside Fun!!

Allie and Etnie had a great time playing outside. We love our little puppy, but she sure does have lots of energy. It's kind of hard to keep up with her and Allie.

Thanksgiving

Allie and I traveled to North Dakota for Thanksgiving this year. We spent a week visiting my family and also stopping in at Sheri and Paul's in Fergus on our way to ND and on our way back. It's nice to be able to break the trip up a little bit.

We spent Thanksgiving at Bonnie and Gilmore's house in Westhope. Allie also got to open her Christmas gifts from my family while we were home. Bonnie had already decorated the house for Christmas when we got there. Allie had lots of fun playing with Lee and opening gifts.

We also met up with one of my high school classmates, Marisa. She had a baby boy named Paul at the beginning of November. I believe he is around 3 weeks old in this picture. Allie thought it was great to get to hold him. It was nice to get to see Marisa and Katie while we were home. I don't always have time to see friends while I am home. We had a great time and it was even better that we had pretty good weather the whole time we were home. Although it sure felt a lot colder there than it is in Rochester.

The Monday after Thanksgiving, Allie and I spent half the day at the House of Bounce. It is a large warehouse full of bouncy castles and slides. Allie and I had a great time (the adults get to bounce too).

First Trip To The Vet

The still nameless puppy had her first trip to the vet today. Allie was very excited to go with to the "puppy doctor". The puppy was very good and didn't cry at all during the shots. Now on to house training. She is used to going on puppy pads in the house and did so during the night and this morning which was nice, but we want to train her to go outside.

Jeremy surprised Allie and I tonight, by bringing home a cute little puppy. She is a Boston Terrier Pugg ("Bugg") and so far is pretty calm. She won't get very big and she shouldn't shed too much. We have not named her yet; hopefully Allie will be able to do that. Allie is very excited. She's already been talking about getting toys for her. She even wanted to give the puppy one of her baby blankets. It's soooo cute!!

TWEITE'S PUMPKIN PATCH

This year we decided to take Allie to Tweite's Pumpkin Patch. Allie was a little shy at first, but then she loosen up and had lots of fun. They had tons of activities for kids. There were slides, tires to climb on, mazes, a puppet show, bikes to ride on, a hay ride, wooden climbers that were shaped like trucks and had slides coming down from them. There was also a concession stand with caramel apples, kettle corn and cotton candy. These are just a few of our pictures. We were there for 3 1/2 hours and we didn't even see everything. Next year we will plan on being there the whole day. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

HALLOWEEN!!

Baby Ty and Allie in their Halloween costumes the last time we were in Fergus.

I found this cute Mr. Potato Head kit to decorate a pumpkin for Allie. She and Daddy had a good time putting it together.

Here Allie is with all of her candy. I had to carry her off and on because her feet hurt, but otherwise she did great.

Larisa came over and handed candy out while Allie and I went Trick-Or-Treating. Jeremy had to work until 8:00. Later that evening we got the privilege of babysitting baby Collin. Allie thought that it was going to be great, but later realized she didn't get all of the attention when there was a baby around. She had quite a few fits that night and went to bed very late. She's been telling us she wants a baby sister, but I don't think that she would like the sharing aspect of it. Overall we had a great night and Allie was happy she got lots of candy.

A New Haircut, Visiting Dora & Pumpkin Carving

We decided it was time to cut Allie's hair. It always looked so messy by the end of the day. Daddy isn't exactly the hair pretty kind of guy, so this is working out much better.

After Allie's haircut, we stood in line for 2 hours waiting to see Dora. Allie was very excited and she got a free kid's ice cream at Cold Stone, so it was worth the wait.

After visiting Dora we went home and ordered pizza. Some of my co-workers were coming over to carve pumpkins, which has become a tradition. This is the third year we have all carved pumpkins together. Melissa brought baby Collin along, so Allie got to hold him.

This Week

We were very busy this week. Allie, my mom and I went shopping on Sunday. We took my mom to the cities on Monday to catch the train back home. John, Jonny, Allie, my mom and I went out to eat at the Olive Garden. We found this little pond with a fountain outside of the restaurant while we were waiting.

Tuesday I had to go back to work. Thursday I had a surprise waiting for me when I got to my car, I had a flat tire. Of course I have never changed a tire, so I made sure that I had a jack and a spare tire and then proceeded to ask some guys across the street to change my tire for me. They were very nice and I was very thankful. Thursday night we had a work picnic and my friend Jen came to town. She used to work with me, but moved back to Oklahoma last year. We stayed up late and woke up early every day this weekend. We went to the cities this weekend to Ikea and did some shopping and this morning we went out for breakfast. Jen headed back to Oklahoma after breakfast today, it was sad to see her go again, but hopefully we will be able to meet in Kansas City again in a few months.

Allie's Birthday Party

I don't think that we will have to buy clothes for the rest of the year, which is great!!

She was very excited about her princess cake, although I don't think she ate the cake. She was more concerned about the edible flowers and hearts. I think she ate almost all of them.

Auntie Morgan was being very nice. She let Allie dump water on her head. By the way, it was not that nice out. The water was very cold. Poor Auntie Morgan.

Allie had a great time riding with her cousin Abby in her Dora Jeep. She can' t quite steer her Jeep herself, so her rides usually consist of me walking beside her holding onto the steering wheel while she pushes the pedal.

Allie and I went to Balsam Lake on July 19th with some of my co-workers. (Jeremy was at RockFest during this time, but we will not be sharing any pictures of his adventure.) One of the consultants from our lab invited our lab up to his cabin for the weekend. We had a great time. Allie was all excited to use her life jacket, floaties, boat and fish, but when it actually came time to go swimming she wasn't excited anymore. She decided she wanted to go in the canoe, but when she got a ways out she decided I needed to swim to her. When I got there, she didn't want to go in the water, so I had to swim back to the dock and my supervisor had to bring her to the dock in the canoe. She didn't attempt to swim the rest of the weekend.

Here Allie is playing with some toys at the lake. It rained for a while, so the kids watched movies and played with toys until it was time for dinner. We have a Doctor visiting our lab from the Dominican Republic. He decided to treat us with a Carribean Dinner. It was kind of spicy, but very good. I stayed away from the anchovies, not my favorite. We also had a great time roasting marshmallows and making smores after the rain cleared.

Allie and her friend Xavier, got bubbles all over the deck and one of the other children slipped, so they got to clean them up with a bucket and a scrub brush. They had a wonderful time. They would each scrub for a little bit and then say "It's your turn." It was really cute.

Allie doesn't normally get jealous about me holding babies, but she was not very happy that Addie was taking too much of my time. She got a little sassy with Addie, but in the end they were still friends.

On Thursday a group of management from Charter helped work on a house that Habitat for Humanity is building. We did alot of work including digging a huge hole for the plumber.
